 COMMENT:

From a fantastic campdrafting family. His dam, QUESTIONAIRE JUILETT is a winner of 60 Open drafts. By the legendary WARRENBRI ROMEO-IS and out of a SAGE KING-FS mare, QUESTIONAIRE KIT KAT. The breeding of KIT KAT is a little unique but seems to be a common practise in the early breeding lines of the Australian Stock Horse. GIGOLO (bred by the Rae Family) is a classic example - sired by SAGE KING-FS who himself features RADIUM blood but it is the dash of Arab on the mare line of SAGE KING that is appealing for us as breeders.  Further reading on SAGE KING-FS can be found on The Australian Stock Horse Society website. QUESTIONAIRE JUILETTE drafted with great success for owner Bruce McNaughton. She was destined to be a great broodmare once she retired from the campdrafting arena. She went on to breed 7 foals in total and all by Docs Freckle Oak bar two mares, Julies Destiny and Acres Quest who are both by ACRES DESTINY.  Several have gone onto draft with great sucess including the 2010 Cannings Down Champion, DOCS LEGACY.

OAKS ROMEO was bred by Richard Bull and is owned by Ted and Sheri Fogarty of Walcha, NSW and has lived on their cattle property south of Alice Springs for many years. Knowing that seasonal conditions had been  tough in Central Australia, we offered to bring OAKS ROMEO south and allow him to spend some of his retirement years in the softer country of the South East and in doing so it allowed us an opportunity to breed him to a few of our older mares. OAKS ROMEO and his daughter, OAKS ROXETTE, arrived at Mount Penny in the November and both have settled into their new paddocks without any problems. OAKS ROXETTE is a paddock mate to DESTINYS OAK and  OAKS ROMEO has his own band of mares that he runs with on a permanent basis. He lives close to the house with his mares and it is here they graze on pasture that is lucerne based with plenty of clovers and a wide variety of grasses. He is a lovely old fellow and we feel extremely lucky to have him with us at Mt Penny.

OAKS ROMEO is the sire of our reliable gelding BANJO BRATT who won his maiden on his first outing,  won a novice shortly thereafter and has placed in open events from limited drafting. He is now an open drafter and has cut-out scores to 24. Banjo Bratt also has won Juvenile drafts and is consistently in the ribbons for his rider who is away at boarding school.

OAKS ROMEO has now returned to NSW.
